Clean the fish fillets or pieces and marinate with salt, turmeric powder, black pepper powder, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, garlic paste and 1 tablespoon of oil for 30 minutes.
Heat oil in a non stick pan and fry the fish pieces under medium flame.
When both sides are done, take out the pieces and keep aside.
If you have excess oil in the pan then reduce it to 2 tablespoon.
Now add chopped garlic and onion and cook until the onions are translucent.
Next add the dry spices a pinch of turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, chopped green chilli and salt to taste.
After mixing the masalas add 1/4 cup of water and add the fish pieces.
When the water is almost drying up add 1/2 tablespoon of lemon juice and give a good mix.
Switch off the gas and garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
